Act TravelWise is pleased to announce that we will be re-launching at the Mainstreaming Smarter Travel conference tomorrow in Manchester. As part of the re-launch, we will be unveiling our new logo and website and as a member, we wanted to give you a chance to have a sneak peak ahead of the launch.
Since our AGM a few weeks ago, we've seen a number of changes at Act TravelWise and we hope you agree, they have been for the better. Our Board Members increased to 14, bringing a wealth of sustainable travel experience from academia, public and private sectors. In addition, Pauline Reeves (Deputy Head of Transport) from the DfT has joined our board as an observer, showing their on-going commitment to the organisation. Other changes/commitments since the AGM include:
- The introduction of a new governance structure with a new Executive Board driving forward change
- A commitment to providing greater knowledge sharing and learning opportunities to members
- Greater focus and support for our national and regional networks in 2014
- A simplified membership fee structure
- The elimination of our annual rolling membership in favour of membership which starts when you pay
- The creation of an EU board role to oversee our European Commission commitments
Website & Re-brand
The most obvious changes are our new logo and website. Our re-brand has been well overdue and a decision was taken earlier this year to make this a priority. After a short debate on whether we should change our name, we quickly dismissed the idea because we were all so attached to it! We are pleased with the results and we hope you agree, the new look is an improvement from the last. If you would like to have a look, please check our website from 3pm today which is when the new website will be live.
So why the changes? With a greater focus on local sustainable transport by the Department for Transport and the accepted need to ensure the funding in this area is being utilised well, Act TravelWise has reinvigorated itself as a professional membership organisation that provides better opportunities for members to share knowledge and best practice. At our AGM, the enthusiasm from members to be involved in this new direction was overwhelming.
If you are planning to attend the Mainstreaming Smarter Travel conference, look out for us! We will be starting our re-launch presentation at 12pm just prior to the start of the main conference. We are also exhibiting so do come and say hello and ask any questions you would like about the re-launch.
The Board are excited about all the changes taking place and most will be in full swing in 2014. We hope you are looking forward to these as much as we are!
