Powered by digital technologies, the WoE FTZ aims to co-design, trial and demonstrate new mobility solutions and services that improve transport connections for our communities. The West of England is participating in the national trials of eScooters and has seen high user uptake that is in turn generating good understanding into how eScooters could become an established part of the transport system.
Marcus Merry - Project Manager of Mobility as a Service (MaaS), which forms part of the West of England Future Transport Zone.
The purpose of the MaaS project is to trial a new app to simplify journey planning, booking and payment. Our vision emphasises the importance of being as inclusive as possible to all individuals in the region, and working closely with our region's transport operators. The ambition is the MaaS solution will become the West of England's go-to platform for mobility.
Fran Graham – Transport Officer for the West of England Combined Authority.
The region is committed to making walking and cycling the preferred choice for shorter journeys, and is investing in active travel to unlock that potential, proactively seeking additional funding through sources like the Active Travel Fund and upcoming City Regional Sustainable Transport Settlement. This investment is complimented by the ‘Finding Joy in the Journey’ campaign, promoting active travel and supporting business and individuals to choose walking and cycling.
