After a period of dormancy, the Yorkshire & The Humber regional group had a successful relaunch meeting attended by 23 people on Tuesday 10 May 2016 hosted by West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) in Leeds. The event included four presentations about sustainable travel and transport activities in the region. The event page with further details and presentations can be found here. Attendees stated that they'd like to see future meetings organised with topics of interest to them; the networking element was viewed by participants as worthwhile but secondary to the presentation content. The list of participants was shared among the group in order to encourage ongoing collaboration.
The May 2016 event was followed up by a larger meeting attended by over 40 people on Tuesday 6 December 2016, also at WYCA in Leeds. This time it was an after work/evening event with presentations on the theme of "The Future is... Shared", which featured Alistair Kirkbride and Antionia Roberts of Carplus Bikeplus. A brief event report by Jola Mellor of WYCA can be downloaded here:
The event was organised and chaired by Martin Higgitt of JMP (now SYSTRA), who is now serving as the Act TravelWise Regional Representative for Yorkshire & The Humber. Transport Planning Society (TPS) nicely rounded off the meeting by hosting a pub social with buffet and drinks. The meeting was all around a big success and will be followed up with future events. Thanks to WYCA for hosting.
