Exciting times ahead! As decided at the January 2016 AGM, Act TravelWise is to transition from a company limited by guarantee into a charitable company. We are now quite far along in the process, with our application to be submitted to the Charities Commission immediately following the January 2017 AGM. The current Articles of Association will be replaced with new Articles compatible with charity law. The current Board of Directors will be replaced by a Board of Trustees. Some of the current directors will become trustees and additional trustees will be sought from among the membership. Trustees with the following backgrounds are particularly sought (click below to continue).
The 2017 Wolfson Economics Prize, now in its third year, involves an open competition with a £250,000 prize. This year, submissions need to address the question: "How can we pay for better, safer, more reliable roads in a way that is fair to road users and good for the economy and the environment?" Submissions are due by 2 March 2017.
Act TravelWise will for the first time in its history be developing a consortium bid with eligible local authorities for themed bids for funding for the DfT's new Access Fund.
Act TravelWise is pleased to welcome our newest Board members, Prea Duhra and Andy Winmill. Both were elected at the 2016 AGM on 28 January. Their profiles can now be found on the Board Members web page. Any additional candidates for the Board who are Act TravelWise members may present themselves at any time.
