Following the very successful 15 September conference 'Making Traffic Free Spaces in Towns and Cities', the University of the West of England and University College London have set up a new website (www.trafficremoval.uk) and forum for professionals and decision-makers involved in traffic removal initiatives. The conference presentations have also been uploaded to the site.
In response to high demand, Act TravelWise is re-launching TravelWise Week. The week-long campaign will be held at the same time as, and in co-operation with, European Mobility Week (EMW) - 16-22 September 2017. Everyone is invited to get involved - from local authorities and transport operators to businesses, universities and health care providers. It's an opportunity to engage with the public and other partners broadly on the theme of transport and travel. Resources are now available for downloading.
On Monday 26 June 2017, Act TravelWise held regional meetings in both London and Leeds, as well as a workshop in Leeds on 'Developing Cycling and Walking Networks'. Click to read an overview and links from each event.
On the theme of 'Sustainable Travel in a Changing World', Act TravelWise held its Annual Conference & AGM on 17 January 2017 in Birmingham, which was very successful and lots of positive feedback was received from the 120 delegates. SYSTRA (formerly JMP) was the main sponsor, along with WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff and Motion. Six sessions throughout the day (as numbered below) covered various aspects of how we as transport/travel practitioners should adapt to a changing world. The conference also helped build momentum for the two Act TravelWise sector-specific forums, one focused on NHS sites and the other on travel issues for businesses.
