On Clean Air Day, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced major plans to help Londoners ‘reclaim’ the streets and get out and about enjoying hundreds of free events for London’s biggest Car Free Day celebrations on Sunday 22 September 2019. Hundreds of activities will take place across more than 20 km of closed streets in Central London. At least 18 boroughs have also confirmed they will be participating in Car Free Day.
The SUMP Guidelines continue to be used extensively across Europe since 2013. However, major new trends in many areas of urban mobility have emerged and a wealth of practical SUMP experience has been acquired over the last few years. This meant it was time to rethink and update the original SUMP Guidelines. A draft second edition is now open for comment until 9 July 2019. Local authorities are also invited to apply for the 8th SUMP Award, until 31 October 2019.
