Senior Travel Advisor at Warrington Borough Council

Warrington Borough Council is seeking a full time (37 hours/week) permanent Senior Travel Adviser. Grade 8 (£31,371 – £34,788).

Warrington’s emerging Local Transport Plan (LTP4) will help support economic growth and improve sustainable access to employment by linking residents in the town to employment, education, retail and leisure locations. New infrastructure to reduce barriers to walking and cycling are being complemented by behaviour change initiatives to increase travel by sustainable modes.

To help deliver the Smarter Travel Choices programme we are looking for a hard-working and committed adviser with a passion for promoting sustainable travel. You will be joining a highly motivated team of transport professionals at a time when Warrington is one of the most sought after places for businesses to relocate to in the UK. Focusing on current and emerging regeneration sites of Birchwood, Omega, Warrington Waterfront and the Town Centre you will engage and promote sustainable travel options to existing and new business partners. You will use travel planning techniques, new schemes, social media, roadshows and your persuasive skills to improve the sustainable travel modal split in Warrington.

If you like the sound of this job, you will need to demonstrate a good knowledge of sustainable travel issues, and have relevant experience of marketing, promotion, and working with businesses and community groups. It would also help if you have a good level of education (degree or equivalent), but above all you will need to be a 'champion for the cause' demonstrating enthusiasm, negotiating skills and an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
