The Transport Data Initiative is led by commercially minded local authorities who’s aim is to improve the way their transport data is utilised and in turn improving the cost of delivery. The next Transport Data Initiative event will be taking place in Manchester on 22 February 2017.
The Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges, which has a sub-group devoted to transport and travel, has two upcoming conferences. Both conferences would be good opportunities to learn more about transport and travel planning in the higher education sector and their context within the wider sustainability agenda.
The next meeting of the South West regional group will take place on Tuesday 21 February hosted by AECOM in Bristol.
The next Midlands regional meeting will take place on Tuesday 14 February, 10:30am to 12:30pm at Staffordshire County Council’s offices, Staffordshire Place, Stafford town centre. The main theme is expected to be ‘Activity following the DfT’s Access Fund announcement’, but if anyone wishes to offer a presentation on this or any relevant topic, please get in touch.
The North West Region of Act Travelwise will be holding a Regional event on Thursday 19 January 2017 at the WSP|PB offices on Oxford Road, Manchester from 2 pm to 4/4:30 pm (Manchester Technology Centre, Oxford Road, Manchester M1 7ED). The event will be an opportunity for North West Act TravelWise members to meet and discuss how the regional group should progress into 2017.
'Sustainable Travel in a Changing World'
Act TravelWise will hold its next Annual Conference & AGM on Tuesday 17 January 2017 as a full-day event at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel opposite New Street rail station in central Birmingham.
Now more than ever, individuals' travel behaviour is shifting and adapting in response to changes in their own circumstances, their communities, the economy and technology. Practioners in the travel and transport sector have the opportunity to help shape these changes in order to best address people's needs whilst favouring sustainable modes.
Registration is now open via Eventbrite and the programme is available online. Places are free for Act TravelWise members (first delegate, £50 each additional delegate). Sponsorship and exhibitor packages are also available, with a big discount for Act TravelWise members.
A launch meeting for the North East regional group will take place on Monday 12 December, 11 am to 2 pm at the Newcastle Civic Centre in the Carliol Room. Following upon a regional launch event back in May, the second Yorkshire & The Humber regional meeting will be held in Leeds on Wednesday 7 December 2016 at West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), Wellington House, Wellington Street, Leeds LS1 2DE (just across the road and to the left from Leeds Station). Titled 'The Future is…………Shared', the event will feature presentations from Alistair Kirkbride and Antonia Roberts of Carplus Bikeplus.
Act TravelWise and the Travel and Transport TSN (Topic Support Network) of the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC)would like to invite those working on travel and transport within universities, colleges, the public sector and other organisations within Scotland to their winter meeting. This meeting is an opportunity to hear from organisations and projects active in the sector, and network with those working in similar roles and organisations.
Representatives of Carplus, Liftshare and travelknowhowscotland.co.uk will be present to introduce different travel schemes and to explore how institutions and organisations can interact with them to reduce negative impacts of travel and transport while improving accessibility. Cycling Scotland will offer insights on their internship scheme and how this helped to further promote sustainable transport.
Following upon a successful and well attended third meeting of our NHS Travel & Transport Managers' Forum on 13 September, the forum's fourth meeting will be held on Thursday 24 November from 2:00-4:00 pm at BuroHappold in London, with an option to join via teleconference.
