Postponed due to rail strike -look out for announcement of new date

Delivered in Partnership with Luton Council, this workshop will use the case study of the new Guided Busway in Luton to consider how capital investment in transport infrastructure projects can be used to achieve changes in travel behaviour. It will look at what parallel behaviour change interventions have and could be introduced and also discuss the opportunities that exist to lever revenue funding into what otherwise could be a capital investment dominated environment. The workshop will include a visit to the Busway and interactive discussion sessions designed to give delegates a chance to share their experiences.

Brought to you by WestTrans and Act TravelWise

In recent years, WestTrans has implemented a number of innovative projects which have taken a joined up approach to addressing specific transport, public health and air quality concerns across the West London partnership area.

This training workshop is free and has been devised to offer professionals in London a unique opportunity to hear about how we have achieved positive outcomes by working in partnership, and also network with like-minded professionals from a variety of disciplines who all work towards common objectives.

This is a free event, but spaces are limited so we advice registering your attendance early (by 1 April).

Topics:
- How air quality messages have successfully been used to engage local communities in changing their travel behaviour and getting more active
- How joined up thinking between public health and transport professionals has helped deliver successful active travel communications and marketing campaigns.
- How new local authority practices have resulted in an increased uptake and quality of development related travel plans
- Insights from a collective of large local businesses that are working together to stimulate changes in travel to/from their sites.

There will also be an extended interactive session when attendees will have the opportunity to work through a contemporary issue with other practitioners and leave with new, innovative and practical ideas to take back to the workplace.

Venue: Transport for London, 55 Broadway, London SW1H 0BD

For many local authorities a Travel Plan Network has been an integral part of their strategy for engaging with local businesses and promoting sustainable travel to employees. However, with the end of the Local Sustainable Transport Fund in sight and revenue budgets under pressure how are these Networks going to secure ongoing funding so they can continue to operate?

Drawing on the facilitators' and delegates' experiences, this workshop will examine the advantages and disadvantages of different models of Travel Plan Networks and identify what actions can be taken to sustain them beyond the end of the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
